With so many wedding venues around Pennsylvania, picking the right venue can sometimes seem like the hardest part of planning your wedding. If you are still trying to find that perfect place, the Historic Ashland wedding venue should definitely be on your list.
As a Pennsylvania wedding photographer, I have captured weddings all over the state, and this venue is absolutely amazing. Not only are the spaces themselves beautiful, but they also have a staff that makes planning your wedding day a breeze.
So, if this sounds right up your alley, take a look at all that the Historic Ashland wedding venue has to offer!
About the Venue and Spaces
The Historic Ashland wedding venue is on a private estate with over 10 acres of land and three different buildings on the property. Although its history dates back over 200 years, the venue feels anything but dated.
The venue perfectly combines a historic and rustic feel with modern day luxuries. It has been beautifully preserved and every part of the property is better than the last. Not only that, but they are also committed to sustainability.
Among other things, the venue has solar panels that provide 100% of the power used throughout the property. So, not only do you get an amazing venue that looks beautiful, but you also get one that you can feel great about!
The features of the venue don’t stop there. Across the property, you have multiple different locations to choose from to use during your wedding depending on what you are looking for!
Under the Trees
The first ceremony location that you can choose from for your wedding is Under the Trees. This spot is located right in a grove of trees and you get to say I do under a beautiful cedar pergola that will definitely make your photos pop.
You can walk down the aisle on a beautifully paved path before saying your vows in front of all of your friends and family. This ceremony location can accommodate up to 150 guests as well giving you and your partner plenty of room for all of your guests.
This really is an incredible space to get married in and it doesn’t even require much decorating if you don’t want to. While you can definitely dress the space up however you would like, the natural beauty of the pergola and surrounding trees already create a dream landscape for your ceremony.
Garden Patio and Pergola
The next space is a really flexible space that you can use at your wedding depending on what you are looking for (and the size of your wedding). The Garden Patio is a beautiful brick paved patio that overlooks the meadow behind it.
With that amazing views and string lights overhead, it creates a magical feeling for your wedding. Now, there are a few different ways you can use this space.
First, it can be your ceremony location. The patio can accommodate up to 150 guests and you can say I do under another stunning pergola overlooking the trees in the meadow. This really is a dream space for your ceremony.
You can also use this space for your cocktail hour. The string lights overhead can light up the area as you and your guests enjoy some time together celebrating your marriage before you head in for the reception.
Finally, if you are planning a smaller wedding, you can also use this space as your reception area. Tables and chairs can be set up on the patio and you can dance the night away under the string lights for a dream end to your amazing wedding!
Streamside Altar
For a more nature filled ceremony, you can head down to their Streamside Alter to tie the knot. This area has a red brick altar for you and your partner to exchange your vows on (although the aisle itself is grass).
You’ll also get the sounds of the creek flowing in the background and a small, beautiful bridge crossing the creek as your backdrop. If you are having a fall wedding, this location is a great place to catch some of the changing colors as it looks out on the meadow!
The Streamside Altar is also great for bigger weddings as it can accommodate up to 150 guests!
The Lodge (2 Levels)
Finally, we have The Lodge. This is the last of the ceremony and reception areas and is actually split up into the lower level and the upper level. The Lodge itself was built back in the early 1800s and has that historic feel to it while also luxurious.
The lower level is the last of the ceremony locations. This area has stunning stone walls and more ambient light that helps to create a more intimate atmosphere compared to the other ceremony locations.
There is a small fireplace in the lower level or you can opt to decorate with some candles to give it a truly intimate and romantic feeling.
The lower level can also be used for your cocktail hour. This gives you the option to take advantage of the beautiful outdoor locations while still not missing out on all that this space has to offer!
The upper level of The Lodge is the perfect place for your wedding reception. It is a really open floor plan that gives you a ton of room to move around. You have massive ceilings and beautiful, exposed wooden beams all around you that are complemented by the stone fireplace.
Once the sun starts to set, string lights and Edison bulb chandeliers light up the lodge as you and your guests celebrate this next chapter in your life together. Plus, the entire Lodge is climate controlled making it the perfect wedding venue any time of year!
The Mansion
The Mansion is one of two getting ready spaces that you can use on your wedding day. While it was built back in the early 1800s with the rest of the property, it has been totally renovated ensuring that you have everything that you need to get ready comfortably, while still paying homage to the history of the space.
Some of the features of The Mansion include private second floor suites, a kitchenette that you can use while you are getting ready, a private balcony on the second floor, and a three tiered staircase.
The Cottage
The Cottage is the second getting ready space that you and your partner can use on your wedding day. This space has a bit more of a rustic vibe to it with a handmade wooden bar and a whiskey barrel table.
Not only do you get a full dressing area, but you’ll also find things like corn hold, darts, and card games here for you to enjoy before you walk down the aisle. Although The Cottage does not have a kitchenette like The Mansion, there is a mini fridge here for you and your wedding party to use!
Weddings at Historic Ashland
Now that you know all of the amazing spaces around the Historic Ashland wedding venue, let’s talk about what a wedding here can actually look like. The venue has four different packages for you to choose from depending on the size of your wedding.
The first two packages are for weddings up to 75 people and weddings up to 150 people. These packages include all of the same amenities including exclusive use of the venue, both getting ready suites, your choice of ceremony locations, a five and a half hour event time, set up and tear down of the tables and chairs that they provide for you, and a staffed 6-person golf cart that you can use for any of your guests that may need help getting back and forth throughout the day.
These packages also include an engagement session at the venue which is not only a great way to get comfortable in front of the camera (and with your photographer) before your wedding day, but also gives you a chance to explore the property and find places where you want to take portraits during your big day!
The other two packages that they offer here are for microweddings and elopements. The microwedding package is for weddings up to 50 guests. With this package, you can choose from the Garden Patio or the lower level of The Lodge for your ceremony and reception.
You will also get all of the tables and chairs for up to 50 guests as well as having them set up and tear them down. The event time is just a bit shorter at four and half hours, but still gives you plenty of time to celebrate with your friends and family.
There are also some additions you can add to this package including things like use of the bridal suite, adding extra time to your event, and more!
Finally, there are three different elopement packages that you can choose from for a more intimate wedding. They range from 10 guests to 25 guests and allow you to be on-site for anywhere from one to two hours.
While these are much smaller packages, you still get to choose from any of their ceremony locations, the officiant is included in the package as well as the bouquets and boutonnières, and all the chairs for your guests!
So, regardless of how big or small you are looking to go for your wedding, they definitely have a package that can work for you. What’s even better is that all of the ceremony and reception areas are accessible and the outdoor areas are even pet friendly!
