The Kylee B photography style is a mixture of naturally posed portrait shots and real candid moments captured with a photojournalism style approach. Your wedding day is about you, not us. We like to photograph things as they unfold naturally rather than interrupt a genuine moment to stage a forced one. During moments like the ceremony and cocktail hour, we absolutely try our best to blend into the background... buuuttttt with that being said, we are definitely known to break it down on the dance floor if you have a banger of a reception. Not only do we love a good dance party, but this allows us to snag some stellar reception dance photos!

Why do we encourage every KBP couple to include an engagement session in their package? For one, it helps you get accustomed to being in front of a camera. This is super helpful if being in front of one isn’t something that you’re used to. It also helps to break the ice a bit more between yourself and your photographer, which can make you feel even more comfortable on your wedding day. By the time your wedding rolls around, getting your photos taken will feel like second nature!

On that same note, you’ll be able also to learn the poses that your photographer likes to use before your big wedding day, so you’ll be a pro for your wedding pictures. It can also be a fun time to experiment and find what works and doesn’t work when it comes to your photos and what you two are most comfortable with.

Engagement Session

What’s the deal with two wedding photographers?

With a second photographer, your photographer can essentially be in two places at once. For instance, when you and your partner are both getting ready in two different rooms or locations, you can both have your getting ready moments documented at the same time. Or, if two fun things happen at once during your reception, both can be captured! This also allows more angles and reactions to be captured during your wedding ceremony, too.

Another benefit to having a second photographer is that t’s basically an extra insurance policy. If something were to go awry with any of your photographer’s gear or memory card, there’s more gear to count on for backup. Not today, Satan!

Second Photographer

Our Digital and Film combo packages include instant, polaroid, and 35mm film photography coverage wedding day. Film photography is very different than digital in that it takes more camera knowledge and artistic skill to photograph. In digital, the photographer has the ability to look at the photos they have taken and adjust their settings if needed. With film, you do not see your results until the film is sent back from the developing lab. This “unknown” gives a whole other layer of true authenticity to your wedding photos.

Film photos help to tell the full story of your wedding with an added touch of nostalgia. Digital photos give you a super wide range of photos while your photographer captures a million moments at once while film infuses your wedding gallery with timeless, artistic memories.

HOW DO I KEEP MYSELF FROM LOOKING TOTALLY AWKWARD IN MY PHOTOS?

First of all, making sure you look good in your photos is our job, and we will NOT do you wrong. Second, our secret to capturing photographs that are natural and carefree while still looking gorgeous is through prompting over posing. We create fun, interactive ideas to bring your photos to life! With every gorgeous photo, there are always 20 hysterically awkward and unflattering images to go with it. Our shutter buttons are usually grabbing about 5 photos per second or more. But don't worry, no embarrassing cross-eyed or ugly-laugh photos will make it to your final gallery... well, maybe one just to give you a chuckle or two.

HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN IN THE PHOTOGRAPHY BIZ?

I (Kylee) have been trained in photography since I was 14 years old, taking black and white film as well as digital photography classes throughout my high school and college years. And to be straight-up honest, I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to get a steady job as a photographer, so I decided I would to go college and graduate with a teaching degree. Fast forward a few years to my wedding day... I was totally amazed at how freaking cool the wedding industry vendors were in my community. Going through the wedding process as a bride 100% inspired me. After I got married in 2015, I asked for a new camera for Christmas to dive back into my old love of photography. The following spring, Kylee B Photography began. In 2018, I knew I had to take a leap of faith and quit my day job and run Kylee B Photography full time. It was terrifying, but I AM SO GRATEFUL I made that choice when I did!!! Now, more than five years into the biz, I am more motivated and driven than ever to bring my all to every single session, wedding, and shoot for my people.

SHOULD WE BE WORRIED THAT YOU HAVEN’T PHOTOGRAPHED AT OUR VENUE BEFORE?

Most people have the misconception that a photographer who has already shot at a specific venue before is going to do a better job than a photographer who hasn't. Sorry, but I have to kindly disagree. Personally, I LOVE photographing at new venues and location I don't get to photograph on the daily because it is WAY more inspiring to create art with a fresh set of eyes in a new space. I will also make sure to get in touch with your venue and coordinators/planners ahead of time to make sure we are all on the same page before your wedding day so it runs smooth as butta! I am always willing to go visit a venue before the actual wedding day if I am shooting there for the first time if that makes my couples more comfortable.

DO YOU SERVE LGBTQ+ WEDDINGS?

Abso-freaking-lutely. Kylee B Photography is a queer affirming business that firmly believes that inclusivity is not only important, it's priority. Period.

DO YOU LIMIT THE NUMBER OF PHOTOS WE RECEIVE BASED ON WHICH PACKAGE WE CHOOSE?

You will never see me picking, choosing, and calculating which photos I do and don't include in your gallery to meet a specific quota number. I honestly don't think it's fair to withhold potentially fantastic photos from my couples based off which package you choose. You deserve it all! I cull through every single photo that was taken on your wedding day and deliver every photo that fits the criteria of a good photo in your gallery based on my professional experience and standards. On average, I usually deliver anywhere between 800-1500 edited images on a full wedding day with two photographers.
